Perspective Conversations

Sometimes, discussing with individuals with a different perspective than ours can feel like hitting a brick wall. However, if we work towards achieving a common goal, we can have productive conversations even in the most challenging circumstances. Instead of competing against each other, let's find common ground and collaborate.
We can achieve success when we focus on the things we share or the goals we both care about. Those conversations that initially seemed impossible can be transformed into stepping stones toward understanding and progress.
My kôhkom used to say, "Changing someone's mind is not about raising our voice or shouting louder; it's about listening better and showing empathy." When we listen to what someone else is saying, we can understand another person's thoughts and feelings, enabling us to tweak our arguments to resonate with them.
So, the next time you want to persuade someone, try listening more attentively, understanding where they are coming from and where they want to go, and using questions instead of answers to come to an understanding.
