A Conversation Between Two Friends

Johannes, how do you like this country so far?

"I really enjoy this place but this northern country makes me long for my country that I was born in."

Really? What makes you long for your country? What makes you want to go back to your southern country?

"Back home, the weather was different.

We never wore heavy jackets even when the monsoons came.

It was as if our bodies were part of nature.

Yeshua, it is so different here."

I don't understand, how is it so different?

"When we flew into the Heathrow airport, I was so stressed out, it was like a city of airports! I walked for 6 hours all over the airport until I got to my gate. I was told by security guards and boarder guards, that if I don't get to my gate I will be sent back to my home country. I was so afraid and stressed out."

"Then, we flew to Kennedy airport and then to Pearson airport, each airport seemed to be colder, and colder.

I had chills up my body, through my bones, my toes, feet, hands, and my nose were so cold.

I thought I was going to experience hypothermia. You may laugh, but as an African, I am physically and somewhat culturally shocked.

This northern country of Canada is so cold even in the middle of summer. It says, 32c, but my body is actually cold, I don't know why."

"Yeshua, we came to this northern country because we were targeted for kidnapping and attacks because of our language and culture. I don't know why!

We never want to harm others."

"Yeshua, we have the same land, different language, cultures, and religions, but the same God.

We all want the same thing.

We all want a good life.

We want to be successful.

Most importantly, we want our children to be extremely successful, much more successful than us as parents.

We want to own our home, a small parcel of land.

We want our children to have a better life and opportunities, then us parents."
