Jumping Through Hoops vs Smooth Sailing

Passion is a huge prerequisite to winning. It makes you willing to jump through hoops, go through all the ups and downs and everything in between to reach your goal. ~ Kerri Walsh

It felt like I was a bucket full of holes. Things kept going in but just as quickly, they'd drain out. So I had people telling me I was this and that and then I'd feel pressure to perform up to their standards, jumping through hoops so I could live up to their expectations. ~ Christian Hosoi

We have all experienced it, unnecessary, frustrating, complicated steps, obstacles, or processes to complete tasks to achieve a goal, they make you, "jump through hoops, like a trained animal performing tricks."

However, when we learn from experiences, become wiser, more street smart, bypassing unnecessary obstacles or tasks, the process is much easier, and quicker to achieve a targeted goal. It's considered, "a walk in the park or smooth sailing."

We tend to "jump through hoops" when applying for grants, bursaries, and scholarships. There are multiple forms to complete, we are usually required to write essays or letters, and to submit required documents on or before various deadlines. And then, after everything is said and done, we might need to complete another set of documents and writing components and maybe an interview, making a simple process into complex unnecessary waste of time.

When we experience a "smooth sailing" situation such as a streamlined college admissions for students without the required prerequisites as an open university policy, easily meeting the admissions for their preferred program and receiving quick acceptance letters, no unnecessary obstacles or multiple tasks, such a process is much easier, and quicker to achieve a targeted goal.

There tends to be a greater success rate because of the improved satisfaction of the students and a system that believes in the potential of the students through their future determination and hard work.
