Sitting against the wall at the top tier bleacher of a live college basketball game with my son Parker, we found ourselves diving deep into the strategies on the court. It was more than just a game; it is a shared experience that is both bonding and intellectually stimulating.

Together, we analyzed the individual and team complexities of basketball through systems thinking.

Simply put:

What is the most important part of any level of basketball?

Defense

Lockdown defense.

Smash-mouth defense.

Street-fight defense.

Simply put, anyone can put a ball in the basketball hoop, but not everyone has the determination to scrap it out to win a basketball game.
