Iโ€™m currently working on two writing projects (3rd one coming), each over 70,000 words, in Reedsy Studio, and I have to say, this cloud-based writing app is genuinely impressive. Even with huge files, Reedsy Studio responds instantly. Iโ€™m still on the free version for now, but Iโ€™m already convinced Iโ€™ll be upgrading soon for the extra features. Honestly, if this tool had existed during my undergrad and graduate programs, it would have been indispensable for every paper and for my thesis.

How do I describe the feeling of opening this app?

Itโ€™s like stepping into a workspace thatโ€™s clean, calm, and strangely motivating.

Without the clutter that often gets in the way, the interface is beautiful without being overpowering, with just enough visual appeal to encourage you to sit down and write. It nudges you forward with a subtle psychological dopamine effect. People frequently compare it with Scrivener, Microsoft Word, and Google Docs, but as soon as you use it, you can tell the difference. Reedsy Studio is easy to understand. Everything seems well-planned, polished, and quick. You can write from a browser on your computer, iPad, or even phone because it's fully cloud-based. It has a built-in backup, autosaves like Google Docs, and provides instant access to all formatting tools while you highlight or type.

Your manuscript chapters are stored in the left panel. Below that, you can add "boards," which is similar to Scrivener's corkboard but cleaner and more flexible and intuitive. It's ideal for planning scenes as you go along, organizing research notes, and creating an outline, it's crazy amazing. Additionally, Reedsy is releasing a number of templates for various writing assignments, which greatly eases the setup process.

A live word counter can be found in the lower-left corner. The primary writing space remains focused and clutter-free, which is ideal for intense concentration. Goal-setting, progress-tracking, and insights tools are located on the right side. One of the things that truly separates Reedsy from the more straightforward writing apps is this feature. You can set writing goals for days, weeks, months, or even years, as well as keep track of your daily word count and the total number of words in your essay, short story, poem, article, or manuscript.

Overall, Reedsy Studio makes the writing process feel lighter, easier, and genuinely more enjoyable. It blends the simplicity of Google Docs with the power of Scrivener, but without the steep learning curve, and wraps it all in a clean, polished design that feels almost like a MacOS workspace. Reedsy Studio is sleek, modern, and quickly becoming the kind of tool you want to use if youโ€™re looking to stay ahead of the curve.
