$60 billion dollars of American taxpayer money!
For most Americans, it's just a number that flashes by in a headline. But it represents something concrete: a decade-long promise of taxpayer money to Israel's military, locked in through a 2016 memorandum of understanding that runs from 2019 through 2028.
Break down the tax dollars spent and the scale becomes clearer.
$33 billion dollars flows through Foreign Military Financing to Israel. Another $5 billion is earmarked specifically for missile defence, the kind that keeps systems like Iron Dome running.
Here's the part that rarely makes headlines: much of this money doesn't just disappear to Israel. It loops back into the American economy, landing in the accounts of major defence contractors. The aid effectively subsidizes purchases of Boeing-built F-15s, Lockheed Martin's F-35s, and precision missiles. It's foreign aid to Israel and loops back to American military industrial policy at once. One must ask, how many politicians in Congress and State politicians do these military contract loop backs benefit?
However, when Israel is bombing and invading another country or territory in the Middle East, so does the American tax dollar spending.
Between October 2023 and September 2025, as Gaza was bombed with over 70,000 tons of bombs and artillery, such an extreme intense bombardment, total destruction of a land area equal in size of Las Vegas and the death of 100s of 1000s of Palestinian civilians; during this slaughter of people of Gaza, the U.S. government supported Israel with another $21 billion dollars in military assistance on top of the standard $38 billion dollars' commitment.
The American tax dollar spending for Israeli military support isn't slowing.
Congress is already eyeing 2027, with another $750 million aimed at tunnel-mapping technology and AI-driven military systems.
The total American tax dollar spending on Israeli military will be approximately $60 billion dollars in just 10 years, and growing higher!
So what do these numbers really mean?
These billions of dollars of taxpayer money is a window into how American foreign policy actually works; where American and Israeli alliance, defence industry profit, and American and Israeli military strategy fuse into one continuous transaction, year after year, contractor after contractor, largely out of public view and public ignorance.
