A Father's Greatest Reward

“One father is more than a hundred schoolmasters.” - George Herbert

“Sports do not build character, they reveal it.” - Heywood Broun

I feel so blessed to have two amazing sons. They’ve both shown me what hard work, toughness, and resilience really look like. My oldest has already finished his business degree, played college basketball, and is now building a solid career in business management while owning his own house. My youngest is just beginning his own college journey, stepping into a business program and getting ready to play college basketball. To see both of them chasing their dreams, each in their own way, makes me proud beyond words.

I’ve been lucky enough to walk this path with them. Not just in gyms and fitness centres, but on soccer pitches, basketball courts, and running tracks. I wasn’t only their dad, I was their coach too, teaching them how to skip rope, how to jog with patience, and how to push themselves into an explosive sprint. Those moments were never just about sports, they were about building discipline, confidence, and belief in themselves. I can still hear the whistle, the bounce of the ball, the sounds of a close game, and feel the pride of standing on the sidelines watching them give everything they had.

Their success isn’t just theirs, it’s ours. It’s been built on 15+ years of family effort, sacrifice, love, and the goals we’ve set together. Every practice, every game, every late night workouts and basketball training sessions have shaped them into the men they’re becoming. And for me, being there for all of it, whether in the gym, on the sidelines or on the court, has been the greatest gift of being their dad.
